  • Impacts of Climate Change on Work Health and Safety in Australia

Open Access•Lucia Wuersch, André Neher et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2023

This scoping review explores the extant literature on climate change impacts on Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) in Australia. It maps the coverage of climate hazards, occupations at risk, and health and socio-economic impacts with the aim of identifying climate change impacts on WHS in Australia and associated knowledge gaps. We used a scoping review approach to identify and investigate 41 scholarly works at the nexus between climate change and…

  • Differences in post‐exercise inflammatory and glucose regulatory response between sedentary indigenous australian and caucasian men completing a single bout of cycling

Open Access•Amy E Mendham, Rob Duffield et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Human Biology•2013

Despite being matched for fitness and body composition the Indigenous men had elevated resting TNF-α and glucose compared with the Caucasian men, which may have contributed to the suppressed post-exercise anti-inflammatory response of the Indigenous men; however, glucose normalized between groups post-exercise. As such, it is recommended for acute moderate-intensity exercise to be completed daily for long-term improvements in glucose regulation, …

  • Influence of lean body mass on performance differences of male and female distance runners in warm, humid environments

    Open Access•Alison Wright, Frank E Marino et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Physical…•2002•Citada por: 2•Referencias: 42

The purpose of this investigation was to evaluate the influence of lean body mass (LBM) and body weight (BW) on the thermoregulatory responses and endurance performance of male and female athletes in warm, humid environments. Ten (5 males, 5 females) healthy, moderately trained athletes with varying physiques performed a self‐paced 30‐min run on a motorized treadmill in warm (30°C), humid (60% relative humidity) conditions, with the aim of runnin…
