  • Radiographic analysis of dental development used in age determination of infant and juvenile skulls from a medieval archaeological site in Norway

    Open Access•Eva Margrete Stermer Beyer‐olsen, Steinar Risne et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•1994•Citada por: 1•Referencias: 3

Age determination based on radiographic examination of teeth and tooth development stages was performed on the infant and juvenile skeletons from St Olav's churchyard in Trondheim. All the 248 skulls with jaws and teeth were radiographed. Based on the apical closure of the second molar, 198 skulls were determined to be older than 15 years. In 38 of the remaining skulls the age could be determined radiographically based on tooth development stages…

  • The depth of the lingual fossa in permanent incisors of Norwegian. I. method of measurement, statistical distribution and sex dimorphism

    Open Access•I H Monrad Aas, Steinar Risnes•ARTICLE•American Journal of Physical…•1979•Citada por: 3•Referencias: 14

The depth of the incisor lingual fossa in permanent extracted incisors and plaster casts of Norwegians was examined. It was shown that plaster casts are well suited for measurements of lingual fossa depth, and that the measurements can be performed with great accuracy. Skewness values showed the symmetry of the distribution to decrease with decreasing mean lingual fossa depth. Kurtosis was found small in maxillary incisors, in mandibular outside …

  • The depth of the lingual fossa in permanent incisors of Norwegians. II. Differences between central and lateral incisors, correlations, side asymmetry and variability

    Open Access•I H Monrad Aas, Steinar Risnes•ARTICLE•American Journal of Physical…•1979•Citada por: 1•Referencias: 12

The depth of the lingual fossa in permanent incisors of Norwegians (plaster casts and extracted teeth) was studied. In the plaster casts the depth of the lingual fossa in the right side incisors was (in mm): I 1 sup = 0.51, I 2 sup = 0.30, I 1 inf = 0.07 and I 2 inf = 0.08. For I 1 sup significant bilateral asymmetry was found (p 1 sup were higher than interjaw correlations with I 2 sup. Dental field theory is confirmed: The upper lateral and low…
