Comment on ‘Did China Import Metals from Africa in the Bronze Age?’
Lead isotope compositions provide a direct means of assessing provenance. The lead contents in bronzes cannot be used to argue against lead isotopes. Any claim for the origin of the source material for the origin of Yin‐Shang bronzes must satisfy the measured lead isotope compositions. Thus far, only southern African sources are found to meet this criteria.
Seasonal 14 C and Sr/Ca Records of a Modern Coral around Daya Bay Nuclear Power Plants
Due to an increasing number of nuclear reactors in operation, the radiocarbon ( 14 C) released from nuclear power plants (NPPs) has become an important anthropogenic source of 14 C. The examination of seasonal Δ 14 C and monthly Sr/Ca, Mg/Ca variations in a coral in Daya Bay (China) shows that NPPs located there have an impact on the Δ 14 C level and sea surface temperature (SST). Coupled high-resolution Sr/Ca and δ 18 O records of a modern and a mid-Holocene coral from Sanya in the southern Hainan Island, northern South China Sea (SCS), were reported and the residual δ 18 O (Δδ 18 O) were calculated to indicate precipitation change in this region.
