In this work, we present a new online service for dose rate calculations in trapped charge dating called “μRate”. The app provides a graphical user interface, convenient cloud storage of data, and the ability to exchange data between users. The data records are organised into projects, which can be easily recalculated with modified parameters. Calculations can be carried out for a wide variety of input data originating from different instruments.…
Holocene development of the Vistula Spit (Baltic Sea coast) based on multidisciplinary investigations
Coastal barriers are the first line of defense for the mainlands against the impacts of severe storms, therefore the need for better understanding how barriers evolve is arising. Spits (barriers) are the dominant landform type of the southern and south-eastern Baltic Sea coast. The aim of this paper is to gain present a better insight into problems of the Vistula Spit origin in general, and especially on the age of formation of the dune ridges. T…
High resolution dating of loess profile from Strzyżów (Horodło Plateau-Ridge, Volhynia Upland)
Chronostratigraphy of a loess-palaeosol sequence in Biały Kościół, Poland using OSL and radiocarbon dating
Luminescence dating of loess profiles in Poland
Loess-paleosol sequence at Korshiv (Ukraine)
Occupation dynamics north of the Carpathians and Sudetes during the Weichselian (MIS5d-3)
Extraction and AMS Radiocarbon Dating of Pollen from Lake Baikal Sediments
This work focuses on the preparation and dating of sporomorph (pollen and spores) concentrates of high purity. Three sediment cores recovered from Lake Baikal within the EU-Project CONTINENT were subjected to palynological analyses and accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS) radiocarbon dating. Laboratory processing of concentrates was aimed at the removal of non-sporomorph organic matter by means of chemical treatment, micro-sieving, and heavy liqui…
Radiocarbon and Thermoluminescence Studies of the Karst Pipe Systems in Southwest England and South Wales
Paleokarst forms in raised beach deposits of Southwest England and South Wales and generally known as “pipes” were dated by 14 C and thermoluminescence (TL) methods. Current geological opinion is that these pipes are features that developed under the cover of periglacial-solifluctional deposits due to periglacial conditions prevalent in the Late Devensian. In the present study, TL was used to determine the age of quartz grains forming the raised …
Gliwice Radiocarbon Dates X
The following list contains all age measurements of paleoenvironmental samples made from 1978 to the end of 1982 for the IGCP 158 Project “Paleohydrological changes in the temperate zone in the last 15,000 years,” Subproject B “Lake and mire environments” (Berglund, 1979), initiated by Bjorn Berglund and Leszek Starkel in 1976. The aim of this project was to reconstruct environmental changes related to climate and human activity in the temperate …
Gliwice Radiocarbon Dates IX
The following list contains most of the measurements of geologic samples made during 1979 and 1980 using carbon-dioxide-filled proportional counters. Samples with laboratory numbers > 1000 were counted with counter No. 1 (L1), and those with numbers
Gliwice Radiocarbon Dates VII
The following list contains the measurements of archaeologic samples made during 1978 and 1979 using carbon-dioxide-filled proportional counters. Most of the samples were dated with counter No. 3 (L3) filled to 1 or 2 atm pressure (Mościcki and Zastawny, 1977). Our counter No. 1 (L1) previously described (Mościcki and Zastawny, 1976) has been remounted and is now operating at 2 atm pressure of carbon dioxide. Samples measured with this counter ha…
Gliwice Radiocarbon Dates VIII
The following list sums up the results of radiocarbon dating of geologic samples obtained mostly during 1978 and 1979. Measurements have continued with the same proportional counters, pretreatment procedures, carbon dioxide purification, measurement and calculation as described previously (Pazdur et al , 1982). Ages are reported as conventional radiocarbon dates in years before ad 1950. No corrections for 13 C/ 12 C ratio were made for samples re…
