American Nurse-Midwifery Practice in 1976-1977
Nurse-Midwifery was introduced into the United States in 1925 as a means of meeting the maternal and infant care needs of specific rural and urban poor populations. Delivery or abortion in inner-city adolescents
This study of an urban group of unwed black adolescent girls who chose to deliver or abort a pregnancy focuses on factors in that decision associated with personal, social, and familial characteristics. Deliverers were characterized by parents and boyfriends who provided greater support for their decision than did those of the aborters, and by lower educational and financial levels, suggesting that they may have had fewer alternatives than aborte…
