  • FinTech and liquidity creation of Chinese commercial banks

Yawei Guo, Lanqing Guo et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of the Asia Pacific Economy•2026

Using panel data from 184 Chinese commercial banks during 2011–2022, this study examines how FinTech affects bank liquidity creation. We construct novel FinTech indices from multi-dimensional internet search data using the partial least squares method. The results show that FinTech significantly augments both on- and off-balance sheet liquidity creations, with a stronger effect on the asset side. The positive impact operates through three channel…

  • Genetic and phenotypic associations of social isolation and loneliness with sarcopenia

Open Access•Xin Xu, Haobin Zhang et al.•ARTICLE•Biodemography and Social Biology•2026

Social isolation and loneliness are recognized risk factors for adverse aging outcomes, but their effects on sarcopenia remain understudied. This study investigated the independent and combined effects of social isolation and loneliness on the risk of incident sarcopenia in two large prospective cohorts: CHARLS (n = 8,856) and ELSA (n = 5,561), including participants aged 50 years and older free of sarcopenia at baseline. Sarcopenia was defined u…

  • Creative Potential and Creative Self‐Belief

Open Access•Yawei Guo, Shengjie Lin et al.•ARTICLE•The Journal of Creative Behavior•2024

Cross‐cultural studies on creativity, mainly focusing on the creative potential aspect (e.g., divergent thinking), are emerging in recent years. However, the creative self‐belief (e.g., creative self‐efficacy) aspect of creativity is under‐researched cross‐culturally. Moreover, studies that address the measurement invariance of creativity assessments to ensure the measures' sound psychometric properties cross‐culturally are rare. Thus, we aimed t…

Evaluative skill, the ability to accurately assess ideas in terms of originality or creativity, is a critical component of creativity. It involves discarding bad ideas and discerning ideas that are worthwhile to pursue. In light of the growing research on the association between individuals’ evaluative skill and divergent thinking (DT), a research synthesis is needed to clarify discrepant results. Therefore, we examined the relationship between D…

  • Hospitalization Costs and Financial Burden on Families with Children with Depression

Open Access•Yawei Guo, Jingjie Sun et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2019

Children suffering from depression with medical insurance had higher hospitalization costs and longer hospitalization stays than children without medical insurance. While uninsured inpatients experienced larger out-of-pocket costs than insured patients, out-of-pocket hospital expenses strained all family budgets, pushing many, especially low-income, families into poverty-insured or uninsured. The different hospital cost structures for drugs, trea…

  • The effects of emotional design on multimedia learning

Shaoying Gong, Shao-Ying Gong et al.•ARTICLE•Acta Psychologica Sinica•2017
