We examined the hypothesis that physical activity will have favorable effects on measures of self-efficacy for a 400-m walk and satisfaction with physical functioning in older adults 70+ years of age who have deficits in mobility. However, large-scale longitudinal studies examining the association between the loss of mass and strength in older adults are lacking. The Association of Race and Socioeconomic Status With Cardiovascular Disease Indicators Among Older Adults in the Health, Aging, and Body Composition Study
Contrary to the age-as-leveler theory, being Black was strongly associated with CVD indicators, and accounting for SES did not reduce this association. Whether other SES measures, such as access to care, could explain the racial association remains to be explored
