  • Burden of postmenopausal breast cancer attributable to excess body weight

    Open Access•Naiara Cubelos-Fernández, Verónica Dávila-Batista et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Epidemiology and…•2025•Referencias: 26

BACKGROUND: 10% of postmenopausal breast cancer cases are attributed to a high body mass index (BMI). BMI underestimates body fat, particularly in older women, and therefore the cancer burden attributable to obesity may be even higher. However, this is not clear. CUN-BAE (Clínica Universidad de Navarra-Body Adiposity Estimator) is an accurate validated estimator of body fat, taking into account sex and age. The objective of this study was to comp…

  • Quality of Life in a Cohort of 1078 Women Diagnosed with Breast Cancer in Spain

    Open Access•Jéssica Alonso-Molero, Trinidad Dierssen-Sotos et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2020

Breast cancer is the most frequent cause of tumors and net survival is increasing. Achieving a higher survival probability reinforces the importance of studying health-related quality of life (HR-QoL). The main aim of this work is to test the relationship between different sociodemographic, clinical and tumor-intrinsic characteristics, and treatment received with HR-QoL measured using SF-12 and the FACT/NCCN (National Comprehensive Cancer Network…

  • RiskDiff

Open Access•Joan Valls, Ramón Clèries et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2009

Combining epidemiological with demographical factors is crucial for analysing incidence or mortality from a disease, especially if the population pyramids show substantial differences. The tool implemented may serve to promote and divulgate the use of this method to give advice for epidemiologic interpretation and decision making in public health

  • Sex differences in hospital readmission among colorectal cancer patients

Juan R González, Esteve Fernandez et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Epidemiology and…•2005•Citada por: 1•Referencias: 32

Background: While several studies have analysed sex and socioeconomic differences in cancer incidence and mortality, sex differences in oncological health care have been seldom considered. Objective: To investigate sex based inequalities in hospital readmission among patients diagnosed with colorectal cancer. Design: Prospective cohort study. Setting: Hospital Universitary in L’Hospitalet (Barcelona, Spain). Participants: Four hundred and three p…

  • Cervical cancer

Josep M Borras, Victoria Sánchez et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Epidemiology and…•1995•Citada por: 1•Referencias: 17

STUDY OBJECTIVE--This study examined the incidence of cervical cancer and survival rates according to migrant experience of women from different regions of Spain to Girona, Catalonia (Spain). DESIGN--Using data from the population based cancer registry of Girona for the period 1980-89, crude and age adjusted incidence rates were calculated for local-born and first generation migrants from other Spanish regions. The age standardised rate ratio (SR…

Open Access•Angel Martínez-Pina, José Luis Guirao de Parga et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Gambling Studies•1991

  • A Guttman Scale to Measure Heterosexual Behavior in Three Different Catalan Samples

    Open Access•Lluís Garcia-Sevilla, Carles Muntaner et al.•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•1984

This work concerned the scalability of heterosexual behavior developing Bentler's scale (1967) for a Catalan sample of 263 subjects of both sexes and from three different educational levels. Analysis of responses to a questionnaire of 34 items showed that heterosexual experiences could be scaled according to a fairly fixed cumulative ordinal pattern. No differences were found between the patterns by sex or educational level. Some applications of …
