  • Six-Category Systems in the Early Vaiśeṣika School

    Open Access•M Watanabe•ARTICLE•印度學佛教學研究•2024

The great Vaiśeṣika philosopher Praśastapāda classified existence into six categories in his Padārthadharmasaṃgraha (PDhS). These six are: substance, quality, action, universal, particularity, and inherence. On the other hand, the classification in the earliest Vaiśeṣika text, the Vaiśeṣikasūtra (VS), is more obscure. In this paper, I examine information in texts in the Chinese Buddhist canon, and clarify two variations of the six-category system…

  • An Assessment of Earth's Climate Sensitivity Using Multiple Lines of Evidence

    Open Access•Steven C Sherwood, M J Webb et al.•ARTICLE•Reviews of Geophysics•2020

We assess evidence relevant to Earth's equilibrium climate sensitivity per doubling of atmospheric CO 2 , characterized by an effective sensitivity S . This evidence includes feedback process understanding, the historical climate record, and the paleoclimate record. An S value lower than 2 K is difficult to reconcile with any of the three lines of evidence. The amount of cooling during the Last Glacial Maximum provides strong evidence against val…

  • Urban residential environments and senior citizens’ longevity in megacity areas

    Takehito Takano, K Nakamura et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Epidemiology and…•2002•Citada por: 88•Referencias: 19

Study objectives: To study the association between greenery filled public areas that are nearby a residence and easy to walk in and the longevity of senior citizens in a densely populated, developed megacity. Design: Cohort study. Methods: The authors analysed the five year survival of 3144 people born in 1903, 1908, 1913, or 1918 who consented to a follow up survey from the records of registered Tokyo citizens in relation to baseline residential…

  • Evaluation of Pg absorption strength of humic acids as a paleoenvironmental indicator in buried paleosols on tephra beds, Japan

    Open Access•M Watanabe, H Tanaka et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•1996

  • Influence of dietary cis- and trans-fat on 1,2-dimethylhydrazine-induced colon tumors and fecal steroid excretion in Fischer 344 rats

    Open Access•M Watanabe, Román Bermejo López-Muñíz et al.•ARTICLE•Erytheia: Revista de estudios…•1985•Referencias: 13

To investigate the effects of the difference in the geometry of dietary fatty acids on colon tumorigenesis, male rats were fed semipurified diets containing either partially hydrogenated corn oil (trans-monoene fat) or olive oil (cis-monoene fat) at the 10% level and received a single oral dosage of 1,2-dimethylhydrazine (DMH). The difference in the fatty acid composition of dietary fats was confined essentially to the geometrical isomerism of oc…
