  • Toward a paradigm shift

    Ju Zhang•ARTICLE•Inquiry•2024

In this paper, I explore the concept of corrective trust as a pathway to mitigate biases, and potentially build or restore mutual trust in relationships characterized by power imbalances, particularly within the context of healthcare. Corrective trust takes place when we actively choose to trust others when our initial mistrust or hesitation to trust is due to biases. However, existing accounts of trust as a special form of reliance present chall…

  • Associations between temporal eating patterns and energy distribution patterns with gallstones

Open Access•Huan Zhang, Chao Xu et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2024

To summarize, inappropriate timing of eating and energy sources are associated with gallstones. As a dietary prevention measure for gallstones, we suggest adhering to a regular eating routine and avoiding overly casual and frequent food consumption. If the main EO routine occurs in the morning, this time should not exceed 9:00 a.m. Additionally, reducing carbohydrate intake and maintaining a moderate level of fat intake is believed to contribute …

  • Study of the mechanism underlying the anti-inflammatory effect of Miao medicine comprising raw and processed Radix Wikstroemia indica using the “sweat soaking method”

  • Characteristics of Graves' disease in children and adolescents in Nanjing

Open Access•Hang Xie, Dandan Chen et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2022

Objective: This cross-sectional study analyzed the clinical characteristics of newly diagnosed Graves' disease (GD) in children and adolescents to provide clinical evidence for the early diagnosis of GD. Method: From 2013 to 2019, information on children and adolescents with newly diagnosed GD admitted to the Department of Endocrinology, Children's Hospital of Nanjing Medical University, was collected, including clinical features and laboratory t…

  • Food Security

Open Access•Ning Sun, Sai Hong Tang et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2022

Since it affects a nation's economy and people's wellbeing, food security is a crucial national security requirement. In order to realize multi-angle grain data presentation and analysis and achieve the goal of deep mining, we propose a 3D dynamic visualization analysis method of multidimensional agricultural spatial-temporal data based on the self-organizing map. This method realizes the multi-angle display and analysis of grain data and achieve…

  • Analysis of variation in reference evapotranspiration and its driving factors in mainland China from 1960 to 2016

Open Access•Dong Wu, Shibo Fang et al.•ARTICLE•Environmental Research Letters•2021

Understanding the variation in reference evapotranspiration (ET o ) is vital for hydrological cycles, drought monitoring, and water resource management. With 1507 meteorological stations and 130 radiation-measured stations, the annual and seasonal ET o were calculated at each site from 1960 to 2016 in mainland China. The phenomenon of coefficient ‘ a ’ being less than 0.25 and coefficient ‘ b ’ being greater than 0.50 in the Angstrom–Prescott mod…

  • Specific fruit but not total fruit intake during early pregnancy is inversely associated with gestational diabetes mellitus risk

Open Access•Hong Sun, Hongli Dong et al.•ARTICLE•Public Health Nutrition•2021

Objectives: Fruit intake may influence gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) risk. However, prospective evidence remains controversial and limited. The current study aimed to investigate whether total fruit and specific fruit intake influence GDM risk. Design: A prospective cohort study was conducted. Dietary information was collected by a 3-d 24-h dietary recall. All participants underwent a standard 75-g oral glucose tolerance test at 24–28 gesta…

  • Excessive gestational weight gain in the first trimester is associated with risk of gestational diabetes mellitus

    Open Access•Xi Lan, Yi-qi Zhang et al.•ARTICLE•Public Health Nutrition•2020

Objective: To evaluate the effects of gestational weight gain (GWG) in the first trimester (GWG-F) and the rate of gestational weight gain in the second trimester (RGWG-S) on gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM), exploring the optimal GWG ranges for the avoidance of GDM in Chinese women. Design: A population-based prospective study was conducted. Gestational weight was measured regularly in every antenatal visit and assessed by the Institute of Me…
