    The present study addressed itself to the problem of self-inflicted injuries (SII) in the Israeli army, and to the wider question whether non-fatal self injuries and suicide are part of the same phenomenon.     The precursors and outcomes of compensation-seeking in Israeli war psychiatric casualties were examined. Findings suggest that compensation was sought by veterans who had experienced the most severe traumas and had subsequently developed the most severe symptoms and functional limitations.
