Stable isotopes in precipitation
In chapter 2 the isotopic fractionation of water in some simple condensation-evaporation processes are considered quantitatively on the basis of the fractionation factors given in section 1|2. The condensation temperature is an important parameter, which has got some glaciological applications. The temperature effect (the δ's decreasing with temperature) together with varying evaporation and exchange appear in the “amount effect” as high δ's in s…
Evidence for general instability of past climate from a 250-kyr ice-core record
Irregular glacial interstadials recorded in a new Greenland ice core

Greenland ice sheet evidence of post-glacial volcanism and its climatic impact
Speculations about the Next Glaciation
A spectacular 10‰ drop in the 18 O 16 O ratio (δ) in precipitation indicative of rapid cooling occurred at Camp Century, Greenland, 89,500 y.a. The timing is based upon an assumption of δ periodicity being constant in time. Onset of the Wisconsin pleniglacial is reflected by 6‰ δ drop at 73,000 BP. Similar event might have occurred 109,000 y.a., but the core at corresponding depth is missing. Could it also happen today?
