The New National Ocean Sciences Accelerator Mass Spectrometer Facility at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution
Start-up performance and first results of the new Woods Hole Accelerator Mass Spectrometer are discussed. Special attention is given to the hemispherical ionizer sputter source and the triple-isotope injector design
Results of Tests and Measurements from the Nsf Regional Accelerator Facility for Radioisotope Dating
Tests of performance of the tandem accelerator mass spectrometer at the NSF Regional Facility at the University of Arizona are discussed. Results of measurements on some tree rings and on some archaeologic samples are presented
Radiocarbon Dating with Tandem Electrostatic Accelerators
An MP tandem Van de Graaff accelerator at the University of Rochester has been employed since May 1977 to detect 14 C in various terrestrial samples. The carbon sample sizes required are 1mg or less. Dating accuracies based on reproducibility now approach (± 80 years). Measurements have been made on 1850 wood, Australian sucrose, a carbon sample from Mt Shasta, a baby woolly mammoth, and an Egyptian bull mummy wrapping
