A speleothem record of hydroclimate variability in northwestern Madagascar during the mid-late Holocene
We present a continuous high-resolution precisely dated multiproxy record of hydroclimate variability at Anjohibe cave in northwestern Madagascar using speleothem AB13. The record spans from ~4484 y BP to ~2863 y BP. Stalagmite δ 18 O, δ 13 C and Sr/Ca ratios show very similar changes in hydroclimate. The mechanism controlling Sr/Ca changes, however, from prior calcite precipitation to degree of dolomite dissolution at about 4 ky BP. Our record i…

Speleothem records of changes in tropical hydrology over the Holocene and possible implications for atmospheric methane
Recent speleothem records from the tropics of both hemispheres document a gradual decrease in the intensity of the monsoons in the Northern Hemisphere and increase in the Southern Hemisphere monsoons over the Holocene. These changes are a direct response of the monsoons to precession-driven insolation variability. Paleoclimatic implications of the spatial patterns of modern and LGM European land-snail shell δ 18 O
The oxygen isotopic composition of land-snail shells may provide insight into the source region and trajectory of precipitation. Last glacial maximum (LGM) gastropod shells were sampled from loess from Belgium to Serbia and modern land-snail shells both record δ 18 O values between 0‰ and − 5‰. This article charts a number of pathways in exploring the relationship between liturgy and justice. Liturgy is presented as 'public service' that to a greater or lesser extent, in different church styles, embraces texts, the arts and a range of other symbolic and kinaesthetic media. Aspects of each of these are examined in order to highlight both ambiguities and promise in liturgical data's promotion of justice

The approach commonly used to assess the potential for climate reconstruction is to use linear regressions to compare the isotopic signal stored in archives to instrumental climatic data sets. A new method is proposed that combines statistical and mechanistic approaches to extract climatic information from δ 13 C records in organic matter. Changing moisture sources over the last 330,000 years in Northern Oman from fluid-inclusion evidence in speleothems
Speleothems from Hoti Cave in northern Oman provide a record of continental pluvial periods over the last 330,000 yr. Periods of rapid speleothem deposition occurred from 6000 to 10,500, 78,000 to 82,000, 120,000 to 135,000, 180,000 to 200,000, and 300,000 to 330,000 yr ago, with little or no growth during the intervening periods. To address this problem, about 1000 samples from known Classical quarrying areas in Greece, Italy and Turkey were analysed using cathodoluminescence. Holocene Forcing of the Indian Monsoon Recorded in a Stalagmite from Southern Oman
A high-resolution oxygen-isotope record from a thorium-uranium–dated stalagmite from southern Oman reflects variations in the amount of monsoon precipitation for the periods from 10.3 to 2.7 and 1.4to 0.4thousand years before the present (ky B.P.).
