The Athenian State Secretariat and Provisions for Publishing and Erecting Decrees
This article presents a survey of the principal state secretaries responsible for the publication of decrees and their erection on stone stelai, followed by a full analysis of the forms of the publication and erection provisions from the 5th century B.C. to the 2nd century A.C. The study demonstrates that, during all periods, one sequence tended to predominate, but other sequences were also employed. Attention is paid to detail within the constit…

Graham's interpretation of the ‘stèle du port de Thasos’ ( SEG 42. 785) as presenting regulations aimed at checking prostitution and associated soliciting in late Archaic Thasos, this article seeks to clarify some specific issues in the text. Aglokreon of Torone
In the sepulchral inscription IG ii 2 . 10453 we are offered Άγλώκρ[ιτος] Τορωνα[ος]. The name Aglokritos, however, cannot stand, for there is room only for a name with a maximum of nine letters. The two extant transcriptions by George Finlay appear to offer two additional letters (AT/IA) at the end of each line, letters which were read by no-one else, Koumanoudes included.
