  • Life during the Mesolithic in the Cantabrian region

Open Access•Antonio Higuero Pliego, Antonio Higuero-Pliego et al.•ARTICLE•Archaeological and Anthropological…•2026

The Mesolithic period has a long history of study in the Cantabrian region (Northern Iberia) due to the relatively high concentration of human remains dating to this period. Previous analysis of stable carbon and nitrogen isotopes focussed on bone collagen, useful in broadly characterising Mesolithic diet, and particularly in identifying distinct inland and coastal diets. But this long-term average view does not permit the study of variation thro…

Open Access•Teresa Espejo Arias, I Lazarova Stoytcheva et al.•ARTICLE•Al-Qanṭara•2011

  • Study of craniostenosis and similar conditions by vestibular craniometry using computerized tomography

Open Access•Domingo Campillo, Domingo García et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•1997

Radiology constitutes an important diagnostic medium for the study of craniostenosis and the related pathologies, platybasia and impressio basilaris. Usually the evaluation of these lesions has been based on the study of specific radiological close-ups (the sagittal plane, the Chamberlain and Lisholm lines and the anthropological Frankfurter plane and Welcker angle). However, as Delattre and Fenart pointed out (1960), vestibular craniometry, thro…

  • Signs of meningiomas in a skull of the Mexican colonial period

    Open Access•Domingo Campillo, Domingo García et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•1995•Citada por: 3•Referencias: 2

The skull of a native Mexican from the colonial period is studied. The skull has a nasal trauma, dental pathology and two osteogenic lesions, one situated at the left wing of the sphenoid bone and the other in the infrainion occipital squamous bone, between the left mastoid process and the left occipital condyle. That involving the sphenoid occludes the optic nerve foramen and is evident through the orbit and at pterion. These osteogenic lesions …

  • The possibility of diagnosing meningiomas in palaeopathology

    Open Access•Domingo Campillo, Domingo García•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•1991•Citada por: 7•Referencias: 6

After a study of approximately 3,000 ancient skulls, from the Neolithic period to the Late Middle Ages, the presence of five lesions suspected of having corresponded to a mening oma during life were detected. The study is comparative with the current clinical picture of these lesions, with regard to their morphological as well as to their radiographic aspect. We consider that the situation of the lesions, the macroscopic appearance of the osteogen…
