  • Site Structure Analysis of a Late Middle Archaic Upland Site in Morgan County, Illinois

    Open Access•Andrew P Bradbury, Steven D Creasman et al.•ARTICLE•North American Archaeologist•2011•Citada por: 1•Referencias: 15

Data recovery investigations at a buried upland site in Morgan County, Illinois documented a late Middle Archaic component. Five hearths were documented and represent three hearth-related activity areas. Three additional activity areas were defined: freehand core reduction area, bipolar core reduction area, and a general dumping/disposal area. The activity areas appear to be tethered to the hearths. A single occupation is indicated by soil microm…

  • The hidden record

    Open Access•C Russell Stafford, Steven D Creasman•ARTICLE•Geoarchaeology•2002•Citada por: 12

From extensive backhoe trenching and coring in the Great Miami–Ohio River confluence region, in conjunction with a large suite of radiocarbon ages, we have identified large tracts of late Holocene alluvium. Thick blankets of Historic alluvium (post‐settlement) may also cover levees of the Ohio River. In conjunction with other studies in the Outer Bluegrass Region of the lower Ohio River valley, it is possible to document an association between fl…
