Adverse Childhood Experiences and the Diagnosis of ICD-11 Post-traumatic Stress Disorder or Complex Post-traumatic Stress Disorder
The 11th revision of the World Health Organization’s International Classification of Diseases (ICD-11) proposed two sibling diagnoses, namely post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and complex PTSD (CPTSD). We aimed to synthesize studies that evaluated the association between adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and PTSD or CPTSD. Systematic search of 7 databases identified 24 studies (282 effect sizes; 17,075 participants). Separate three-level r…
Afforestation Enhances Soil Mineral‐Associated Organic Carbon Accumulation Through Calcium‐Mediated Microbial Pathways in Karst Ecosystems
Mineral‐associated organic carbon (MAOC), protected from rapid microbial decomposition through mineral‐organic associations, is vital for the long‐term stability of soil carbon pools. Afforestation is a critical strategy for enhancing soil carbon storage; however, the mechanisms governing MAOC accumulation across divergent climatic conditions remain unclear, particularly for karst regions, which are ecologically fragile and characterized by high‐…
Unraveling the cycle of depression
Attachment and social emotion regulation strategies play crucial roles in social interactions and are associated with the maintenance and exacerbation of depressive symptoms. However, previous studies have relied on retrospective questionnaire surveys, which are susceptible to recall bias and limit the ability to capture dynamic interactions among depression, attachment, and social emotion regulation-particularly in psychiatric patients. Therefor…
Beyond the place
Social avoidance is a prevalent mental health problem. While most previous studies have predominantly focused on interpersonal interventions, these approaches often face challenges. An alternative may lie in considering environmental factors. Based on the internal working model, we propose that attachment to a personally significant place may help reduce social avoidance in general contexts. We conducted three studies employing different methodol…
Longitudinal Association Between Depressive Symptoms and Sleep Problems in Adolescents Following a Natural Disaster
The mediating roles of interpersonal sensitivity and rumination in the relationship between self-esteem and depression
This study examined the relationship between self-esteem, interpersonal sensitivity, rumination, and depression in psychiatric patients. Participants included 159 adults with major depressive disorder (MDD) or generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) (Age: M = 31.69, SD = 11.54; 70.4% Female). The study measured depression, self-esteem and interpersonal sensitivity at T1 and rumination and depression at T2 after 10 to 14 days. The study found that afte…
Emotional self-disclosure and internalizing problems among adolescents after an earthquake
The results indicated that emotional self-disclosure showed a clear healing effect only for boys, whereas for girls, higher internalizing problems related to suppressed emotional self-disclosure. These findings suggested that interventions could focus on promoting emotional self-disclosure for boys and focus on the relief of internalizing symptoms for girls. Relieve or aggravate? Impact of interpersonal and place attachment security priming on intrusive symptoms
Attachment security has the potential to be a protective factor against intrusive symptoms. However, its impact on intrusive symptoms across different types of trauma is not well understood. To address this, we explored how priming interpersonal and place attachment security affects intrusive symptoms in the context of man-made and natural traumatic events. One hundred sixty-five adult participants were randomly assigned to interpersonal or place…
Re-examining Intercultural Competence in Mainland China through Actor-Network Theory
This study advances a re-conceptualization of intercultural competence as an emergent, relational practice constituted within dynamic networks of interaction. Employing a conceptual methodology informed by Actor-Network Theory (ANT), it proposes a perspective that considers both human and non-human actors/actants, including technological artifacts, semiotic and linguistic resources, institutional structures, and spatial-material configurations- a…
Optimism, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, and Posttraumatic Growth Among Adolescents
Attention to negative information and PTSSs during the Covid-19
Comorbidity patterns of depression and anxiety among Chinese psychiatric patients
Longitudinal associations between posttraumatic stress disorder, separation anxiety, and rumination among adolescents
These findings highlight the mediating role of rumination, elucidate the relation between PTSD and separation anxiety, and provide theoretical support for the development of transdiagnostic clinical interventions and treatments. (PsycInfo Database Record (c) 2025 APA, all rights reserved)
Family Function and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder in Children and Adolescents
Family function reflects the operating status of the family system, which plays a vital role in children’s mental health. The current meta-analysis examined the association between family function and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in children and adolescents for the first time. Studies published from 1980 to 2021 were identified via searching and screening. We identified 31 studies (91 unique effects) with 8,684 children. A three-level me…
School bullying victimization and post-traumatic stress symptoms in adolescents
These findings indicated that feelings of insecurity and self-disclosure mediated the relationship between school bullying victimization and PTSSs. The psychological service should reduce adolescents' feelings of insecurity and give them more chances to disclose their bullying experiences
Reference system in modern Mandarin Chinese
The present study is an attempt at a comprehensive presentation of various functions in the reference system of Mandarin Chinese. The study demonstrates that the reference system of Mandarin consists of a finite number of functions, some of which have not been identified as such, namely: absence of instructions to identify the referent, marked by bare nouns (sometimes analyzed as ‘indetermined’); presentation of an entity as not requiring identif…
