  • Understanding the future and evolution of agri-food systems

    Open Access•Mostafa Shaaban, Ariane Voglhuber-Slavinsky et al.•ARTICLE•Futures•2023•Citada por: 1•Referencias: 38

The agri-food system is a vital and complex social-ecological system characterized by interactions between humans and the environment. For such systems, qualitative scenarios (QS) can generate pictures of possible futures, which combined with quantitative modelling allow identifying pathways towards improved resilience and exploring system uncertainties. However, the interpretation of qualitative narratives into quantitative simulation parameters…

  • Assessing the role of artificially drained agricultural land for climate change mitigation in Ireland

    Open Access•Carsten Paul, Paul Carsten et al.•ARTICLE•Environmental Science & Policy•2017•Citada por: 5

In 2014 temperate zone emission factor revisions were published in the IPCC Wetlands Supplement. Default values for direct CO2 emissions of artificially drained organic soils were increased by a factor of 1.6 for cropland sites and by factors ranging from 14 to 24 for grassland sites. This highlights the role of drained organic soils as emission hotspots and makes their rewetting more attractive as climate change mitigation measures. Drainage emi…
