  • Two Parameters of Human Discrimination Learning

    Open Access•Richard M Sanders•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•1971

115 undergraduates were tested to determine the number of trials required to learn a concept-identification task. An analysis was made based on a notational system which associated stimulus elements of the task with reinforcement (S), with non-reinforcement (S 1 ), or with either reinforcement or non-reinforcement (I). Whereas increases in the number of I-type stimulus elements in a task (associated randomly with reinforcement and non-reinforceme…

  • Anticipatory Heart-Rate Changes

    Open Access•Richard M Sanders, Donald M Wood•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•1969

9 Ss participated in an experiment comparing anticipatory heart-rate changes to two different kinds of reaction times. Ss were paid for pushing a button within 500 msec, of a signal (simple reaction time) and were paid for pushing a button within ± 250 msec, of 5 sec. after a signal (internally mediated reaction time). For all Ss and under both conditions, the heart-rate was observed to decelerate during at least the 2 sec. prior to the response …

  • Note on Magnitude of a Money Reinforcer in a Concurrent Schedule of Reinforcement

    Open Access•Richard M Sanders•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•1968

3 male high-school students participated in an experiment designed to determine the effects of the magnitude of a monetary reinforcer on human behavior in a complex situation. A two-key concurrent schedule of reinforcement was used with drl as one component and either FI or VI as the second component. It was demonstrated that increasing the reinforcement magnitude for the drl schedule produced a small transient increase in the rate of responding …
