    Open Access•Ceshae Harding, Erica L Eliason et al.•ARTICLE•Women s Health Issues•2026

BACKGROUND: Primary care after pregnancy allows for cardiovascular risk factor modification amidst rising rates of cardiometabolic complications in pregnancy. • The 2025 Georgetown University Perinatal Symposium

    Open Access•Heather M Bradford, Lauren Arrington et al.•ARTICLE•Health Equity•2025

Introduction and Purpose: The perinatal period is a crucial time for the health and well-being of pregnant, birthing, and postpartum individuals, infants, families, and their communities. Background: The postpartum period is a critical time to support birthing people and infants, address and mitigate perinatal health inequities, and promote joy and connection. Yet many birthing people do not perceive value in postpartum visits, particularly when measured against the competing demands and barriers to care faced by those experiencing poverty and other systemic oppression. These inequities are particularly acute for Black birthing pe…

Open Access•Hannah MacDougall, Melissa Latcham et al.•ARTICLE•The Journal of Rural Health•2025

PURPOSE: US nonprofit hospitals must provide community benefits including financial assistance to be tax-exempt. Rural residents particularly benefit from financial assistance because they have higher medical debt on average. The Internal Revenue Service allows nonprofit hospitals that are members of health systems to report expenditures for their entire system (group returns) rather than for individual hospitals. Our study examined how (if at al…

    Open Access•Erica L Eliason, Daniel B Nelson et al.•ARTICLE•JAMA Health Forum•2025

In this survey study, newly implementing continuous eligibility for children under the FFCRA was associated with reductions in unmet health care needs and no additional changes in health care outcomes overall, with additional benefits for Hispanic children and publicly insured children. This could reflect expected changes under mandatory, national 12-month continuous eligibility for children implemented in January 2024
