An Analysis of the Use of Statistical Testing in Communication Research
A study was conducted to determine the adequacy of statistical testing in communication research. Every article published in the 1971–72 issues of the Journal of Communication was studied. For those studies employing statistical testing, we computed the power of those tests and the observed effect size.
