From the Levant to a Moscow Museum
The State Historical Museum (Moscow) houses, among its collections, cultural treasures that arrived in the USSR as compensatory restitution from Germany. Among them are three glass flasks, which are examined in this article. Composition of 6th–1st century BC glass of core-formed vessels from the North Black Sea region
The composition of 38 samples of core-formed vessels from the State Historical Museum (Moscow) was studied using SEM-EDS and LA-ICP-MS techniques. Most of them were unearthed in North Pontic Greek colonies. Most studied vessels are likely made of Levantine glass. Collection of Roman Time and the Great Migration Period Artefacts from the Eastern Crimea
The article examines a collection of metal elements of costume from the Roman period and the Great Migration period from the State Historical Museum. It comes from Eastern Crimea (Kerch or Theodosia). Among the Roman time artifacts, the most numerous are brooches and buckles, bracelets, and pendants of "barbarian" origin, associated with the Sarmatians, Germans, and, possibly, the Western Balts. Lamps from a Sanctuary of Eleusinian Goddesses – “Beregovoï-4”
The sanctuary known as Beregovoï-4 is situated on the Taman Peninsula (Kerch Strait between the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea), 5 km north-west of the ancient polis of Patraios. The large amount of terracotta figurines and other sacral objects, in conjunction with the absence of any groups of buildings, testifies clearly to the fact that this archaeological site was a sanctuary. A unique terracotta relief with a depiction of a Dionysiac scene is published in this article: it was found during excavations of the city of Kepoi in the Asiatic Bosporus. The authors of the article reach the conclusion that the relief shows a depiction of two actors in satyrs’ masks carrying a third in the role of Dionysos. According to the given information the objects originated from the clandestine excavations in Anapa or its vicinities. The terra sigillata skyphos found in 1971 and bearing reliefs with erotic scenes is the only one of its kind from the Northern Black Sea coast. The vessel and its process of manufacture are analysed, the reliefs described and its origins traced to Pergamon at the end 2nd-first half 1st c. BC
