  • Elemental analysis of glass ornaments from Liziwei

    Open Access•K W Wang, Wei-Chun Chen et al.•ARTICLE•Archaeological and Anthropological…•2025•Referencias: 23

This study presents a comprehensive analysis of glass ornaments excavated from the Liziwei site in southwestern Taiwan (the 1 st to the 8 th century CE) to explore the dynamics of local and trans-regional exchange network during the Metal Age. Using Laser Ablation - Inductively Coupled Plasma - Mass Spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS) and Scanning Electron Microscopy with Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (SEM-EDS), we identified three principal chemical…

  • Glass beads from Guishan in Iron Age Taiwan

    Open Access•K W Wang, Kuang‐ti Li et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Archaeological Science…•2020•Citada por: 2•Referencias: 5

Archaeological excavations at Guishan in the southern end of Taiwan have recovered more than a hundred glass beads dating to mid-1st millennium CE. This research investigates the exchange of glass beads between Guishan, eastern Taiwan and Southeast Asia, by analysing the styles, chemical composition and microstructure of 64 glass beads from Guishan, using SEM-EDS, EPMA and LA-ICP-MS. The findings suggest that beads with an m-Na-Al glass and v-Na-…

  • The anomaly of glass beads and glass beadmaking waste at Jiuxianglan, Taiwan

    Open Access•K W Wang, Yoshiyuki Iizuka et al.•ARTICLE•Archaeological and Anthropological…•2019•Citada por: 5•Referencias: 10

Glass beads and beadmaking waste have been excavated at the Iron Age site of Jiuxianglan (ca. third century BC-eighth century AD) in southeastern Taiwan. It was suggested that this site may be a production and exchange centre of glass beads in Iron Age Taiwan. This paper presents the analysis of 44 samples, to explore the relationship between glass beads and waste and the nature of bead production at Jiuxianglan. The analysis combines data on sty…
