Provenance attribution of lapis lazuli rocks processed at the Bronze age archaeological site of Shahr-i Sokhta (Iran)
Why is it so difficult to work on geochemical composition? Supervised geochemical composition data processing to study colouring iron oxide-rich rocks in archaeological contexts
First provenance evidence for lapis lazuli artefacts from Arabia
This study analyzes the impacts of the installation of the Project Tombador Iron Mineração and its relationship with the communities located in the areas of influence, aiming to investigate the relationship between the company and the communities located in the impacted areas. The research has a quali-quantitative approach, survey, exploratory, analytical and descriptive type. Data collection took place through questionnaires and on-site observat…

Chemical and Mechanical Characterisation of White Earthenware Glazes from the Johnston‐Vieillard Manufactory (France, 19th Century)
This paper aims to apprehend evolution of ceramic manufacture strategy in the Johnston‐Vieillard manufactory (Bordeaux, France), which produced white earthenwares between 1835 and 1895. Glazes of fragments of 76 sherds, dated from different periods of the 19th century and found in excavations were characterised thanks to combined chemical and mechanical analysis. A comparative study was carried out for the determination of boron content in glazes…
Geosistêmica Paleodunar no Curso do Rio São Francisco

Characterisation of metallic mordants in Subarctic Athapaskan quillwork
Native American quillwork collections remain little studied due to the limited availability of quillwork material for sampling. In this paper we explore the use of non-invasive Particle Induced X-Ray Emission (PIXE) and Rutherford Backscattering Spectrometry (RBS) to characterise metallic residues in a set of modern porcupine quills prepared with a range of metallic mordants. PIXE analysis was used to determine the concentrations of various morda…
Fixlab transnational access
During four years, the CHARISMA program enabled European researchers to access large scale facilities that provide synchrotron radiation, ion or neutron beams for typical questions raised by Cultural Heritage science. FIXLAB as well as the eligibility conditions and the selection procedure are presented here. The overview of the FIXLAB activity shows the variety of materials, periods and issues tackled all along the European program. Thanks to th…
