  • The Engine and the Brake

Open Access•Quanfei Zhang, M Xie et al.•ARTICLE•Business Strategy and the…•2026

Digital transformation is widely hailed as an engine for corporate productivity, yet the potential for technology risks to act as a brake on environmental efficiency remains largely unexplored. Drawing on digital technology risk exposure as the focal variable, this paper investigates how it relates to corporate carbon emission efficiency (CEE). We construct a novel, granular DTRE index by applying an ensemble of large language models, including F…

  • Navigating through green policies

Open Access•Zichun Yan, Zehan Wang et al.•ARTICLE•Humanities and Social Sciences…•2026

With the growing emphasis on sustainable finance and the increasing influence of green technologies on market dynamics, understanding how green technology innovations affect financial volatility has become crucial for accurate financial cycle forecasting. This study investigates how green technology innovation, proxied by green energy patents across upstream, midstream, and downstream stages in the oil production chain, affects the forecasting of…

  • Quartile risk dependence between clean energy markets and the U.S. travel and leisure index

Open Access•Hongjun Zeng, Mohammad Zoynul Abedin et al.•ARTICLE•Current Issues in Tourism•2025

We employed the Cross-quantilogram method for the first time to assess the cross-quantile risk relationship among the clean energy market and the Dow Jones U.S. Travel & Leisure Index during the period from 2014 to 2023. This investigation aimed to explore the asymmetric nature of the risk-dependence structure. Our findings reveal that, under market stability conditions, the U.S. Travel & Leisure index exhibited the highest correlation with all c…

  • The impact of extreme climate on tourism sector international stock markets

Open Access•Ran Wu, Hongjun Zeng et al.•ARTICLE•Tourism Economics•2025

This paper aims to investigate the heterogeneous effects of the Southern Oscillation Index (SOI) on the tourism Sector of International Stock Markets under varying climate conditions and time-frequency using the Quantile-on-Quantile Regression (QQR) method, the quantile Granger-causality test and Wavelet Coherence method. The study’s findings reveal that: (1) Pacific Rim countries exhibited greater sensitivity to SOI fluctuations, while developed…

  • Digital twin-driven real-time planning, monitoring, and controlling in food supply chains

Open Access•Pratik Maheshwari, Sachin S Kamble et al.•ARTICLE•Technological Forecasting and…•2023

There needs to be more clarity about when and how the digital twin approach could benefit the food supply chains. In this study, we develop and solve an integrated problem of procurement, production, and distribution strategies (PPDs) in a medium-scale food processing company. Using the digital twin approach, the model considers the industrial symbiosis opportunities between the supplier, manufacturer, and customer using interval and sequence var…

  • A decomposition and decoupling analysis for carbon dioxide emissions

Open Access•Cosimo Magazzino, Parisa Pakrooh et al.•ARTICLE•Environment Development and…•2023

Despite the huge difference in their climatic regimes, the OECD countries are among the world’s largest energy consumers and emitters of greenhouse gases, particularly carbon dioxide. Nonetheless, no studies have been conducted to decompose and decouple the long-term influential primary factors of carbon emissions for these countries. In this research, the Log Mean Divisia Method I is used to inspect the contribution of several influencing factor…

  • Impact of early Covid-19 pandemic on the US and European stock markets and volatility forecasting

Open Access•Mohammad Mazibar Rahman, Chi Guotai et al.•ARTICLE•Economic Research-Ekonomska…•2022

This study examines the impact of early COVID-19 pandemic on U.S. and European stock indices, implied volatility (IV) indices, and forecasting accuracy of IV indices from daily data of January 2012 to December 2020, using an out-of-sample assessment of COVID-19. Our results show that COVID-19 death and recovery cases have had a significant positive impact on S&P 500, DJIA and NASDAQ 100. On the other hand, VIX, VXD and VXN show a negative associa…

Open Access•Mahbuba Aktar, Mohammad Zoynul Abedin et al.•ARTICLE•SAGE Open•2021

This article assesses the differential reactions of firms’ investment to monetary policy shocks based on various financial heterogeneity measures, such as leverage and cash holdings. It applies U.S. public firms’ panel data from the sample period 1990Q1 to 2007Q4 and high-frequency event-study approach.
