Perceived Competence, Self-Description, Expectation, and Successful Experience Differences among Students in Grades Seven, Eight, and Nine
This study compared grade, gender, and achievement differences on competence-related measures. Students in grades seven, eight and nine were compared on measures of perceived competence, self-descriptive characteristics, successful experiences, expectations on a mathematics test, and math achievement differences. This study evaluated the effectiveness of classroom moral dilemma discussions. The moral reasoning of sixth graders was assessed before and after an eight week moral education program. Students led by teachers with extended training made greater progress than students led by teachers with limited preparation.
