  • Desert dust episodes during pregnancy are associated with increased preterm delivery in French Guiana

Open Access•Mathieu Nacher, Malika Leneuve et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2024

Preterm deliveries are a major multifactorial public health problem in French Guiana. Desert dust episodes have been associated with preterm delivery in Guadeloupe, a territory with similarities to French Guiana. We thus tried to replicate this finding in the context of French Guiana. A retrospective ecological cohort study combined daily PM10 concentration measurements during pregnancy and term at delivery extracted from French Guiana’s computer…

  • Risk of Nursing Home Admittance among Working Age Residents with Mental Illness

    Open Access•Stéphanie Bernard•ARTICLE•Qualitative Report•2014•Citada por: 1•Referencias: 6

The number of working age (18-64) nursing home (NH) residents with a mental diagnosis at admission rose from 70,600 in 1997 to 97,200 in 1999 (Jones, 2002). Utilizing the Behavioral Model for Vulnerable Populations (Gelberg, Andersen, & Leak, 2000), I examined factors associated with NH admittance in a sample of working age residents with mental illness. I conducted a qualitative analysis of 20 residents' healthcare and social experiences leading…

  • Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë

    Open Access•Stéphanie Bernard•ARTICLE•Revue LISA / LISA e-journal•2009

  • One Church or Two? Contemporary and Historicalviews of Race Relations in One Catholic Diocese

    Rhonda D Evans, Craig J Forsyth et al.•ARTICLE•Sociological Spectrum•2002•Referencias: 3

This article examines the historical development of formally and informally segregated churches within the Diocese of Lafayette, Louisiana, the role segregated churches continue to have, and the attitudes of religious leaders within these churches towards the issue of racial integration. Data were obtained from surveys, interviews, and historical research. Interview and survey data used for this project were gleaned from Parish Council Presidents…
