  • Paleoecological reconstruction during the Holocene in the Middle Branch of Bue Marino Cave (Sardinia, Italy)

    Open Access•Eduardo Romano, Daniele Sechi et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2023•Referencias: 3

This study was conducted in the Middle Branch of Bue Marino Cave (Sardinia, Italy) to reconstruct paleoecological conditions during the Holocene through microfaunal proxies in seven surface sediment samples and a short sediment core (BMD-2018, 18 cm), all collected in 2018 and another core sampled in 2021 (BMD-2021, 28 cm). The first attempt at dating cave sediment through luminescence was conducted on BMD-2021; the derived age was 6.04 ± 0.47 ka…

  • Middle-to late-Holocene environmental changes in the Garigliano delta plain (Central Italy)

    Open Access•Piero Bellotti, Gilberto Calderoni et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2016•Citada por: 5•Referencias: 8

Geomorphologic, stratigraphic, faunistic, palynological and 14 C analyses were carried out in the area of the mouth of the Garigliano River characterized by two strand plains that are referred to the Eutyrrhenian and the Holocene, rimming two depressed zones separated by the Garigliano River channel. This study depicts the palaeoenvironmental evolution over the last 8200 years and the landscape context at the time of Minturnae Roman colony. Betwe…

  • Bathy-morphological setting of Terceira Island (Azores) after the Faivi cruise

Open Access•Francesco Latino Chiocci, Claudia Romagnoli et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Maps•2013

High-resolution morpho-bathymetric data at 1:200,000 scale obtained during the FAIVI cruise (2011) and the resulting geomorphologic map of the Terceira island offshore area (central Azores, Portugal) are presented for the first time. The uneven morphology around Terceira is primarily related to volcanic features, such as linear and cone-shaped eruptive centres and lava flows. Such features are mostly concentrated on volcanic ridges and are aligne…

  • The role of foraminifera as indicators of the Late Pleistocene–Holocene palaeoclimatic fluctuations on the deltaic environment

Letizia Di Bella, Piero Bellotti et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2013

  • Paleoenvironmental reconstruction of Late Quaternary succession by foraminiferal assemblages of three cores from the San Benedetto del Tronto coast (central Adriatic Sea, Italy)

    Open Access•Letizia Di Bella, Sara Casieri•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2011

  • Benthic foraminiferal assemblages of the imperial harbor of Claudius (Rome)

    Open Access•Letizia Di Bella, Piero Bellotti et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2011•Citada por: 2•Referencias: 3

This paper presents a paleoenvironmental reconstruction of historical development in the area of the ancient harbor of Claudius based on micropaleontological and sedimentological data. Benthic foraminifera are reliable tools for this kind of research because they are sensitive to short-time environmental changes induced by both natural and anthropogenic events. By studying eight sediment cores collected from different sections of the harbor, it w…

  • Palaeoenvironmental reconstruction of late Quaternary foraminifera and molluscs from the Enea borehole (Versilian plain, Tuscany, Italy)

Open Access•Maria Gabriella Carboni, Luisa Bergamin et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary Research•2010

Foraminifera and molluscs from the 90 m deep ENEA borehole (Versilian plain, central Italy) were studied for paleoenvironmental purposes. Palaeontological analyses, integrated with U/Th and radiocarbon data, helped to recognize late Quaternary sea-level changes and supplied results on tectonic mobility of the area. The study highlighted four sedimentary phases. The first phase consists of a shore environment attributed to MIS 7.1. A hiatus corres…

  • Tectonics, sea-level changes and palaeoenvironments in the early Pleistocene of Rome (Italy)

Open Access•Donald Cosentino, Domenico Cosentino et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary Research•2009

The historical site of the Monte Mario lower Pleistocene succession (Rome, Italy) is an important marker of the Pliocene/Pleistocene boundary. Recently, the Monte Mario site was excavated and restudied. A spectacular angular unconformity characterizes the contact between the Monte Vaticano and the Monte Mario formations, which marks the Pliocene/Pleistocene boundary. Biostratigraphical analyses carried out on ostracod, foraminifer, and calcareous…

  • Localizing Historical Clues Using Irt and Petrographic Analyses at Villa Mirabello, Monza (Italy)

    Open Access•Elisabetta Rosina, S DELLA TORRE et al.•ARTICLE•Archaeometry•2009•Citada por: 1•Referencias: 6

The rebuilding of Villa Mirabello started in 1666. Built on designs of Gerolamo Quadrio, the project refurbished and enlarged a smaller 16th century country house (‘casa da nobile e da massaro’). Archival documents report on the remodelling, which consisted of selective demolition of portions of the structure, re‐using most of the masonry as the core of the new building, and the reinforcement of retained masonry by insertion of ‘ceppo’ stone quoi…
