  • Improved dendroclimatic calibration using blue intensity in the southern Yukon

    Open Access•Rob Wilson, Kevin J Anchukaitis et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2019•Citada por: 1•Referencias: 5

In north-western North America, the so-called divergence problem (DP) is expressed in tree ring width (RW) as an unstable temperature signal in recent decades. Maximum latewood density (MXD), from the same region, shows minimal evidence of DP. While MXD is a superior proxy for summer temperatures, there are very few long MXD records from North America. Latewood blue intensity (LWB) measures similar wood properties as MXD, expresses a similar clim…

  • Dendrochronologically Dated Pine Buildings from Scotland

    Coralie M Mills, Coralie Mills et al.•ARTICLE•Vernacular Architecture•2017•Citada por: 1•Referencias: 1

The SCOT2K project has extended native pine tree-ring chronology coverage for Scotland to enable reconstruction of past climate and for cultural heritage dating benefits. Using living trees from multiple locations in the Highlands and sub-fossil material from lochs, a network of five regional chronologies has been produced. The project has developed the application of Blue Intensity (BI), a proxy measure for maximum latewood density, which is fas…

  • Facilitating tree-ring dating of historic conifer timbers using Blue Intensity

Open Access•Rob Wilson, David Wilson et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Archaeological Science•2016•Citada por: 5•Referencias: 3

  • Blue Intensity for dendroclimatology

    Open Access•Rob Wilson, R G S Rao et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2014•Citada por: 3•Referencias: 3

Maximum latewood density (MXD) is a strong proxy of summer temperatures. Despite this, there is a paucity of long MXD chronologies in the Northern Hemisphere, which limits large-scale tree-ring-based reconstructions of past temperature which are dominated by ring-width (RW) data – a weaker temperature proxy at inter-annual time-scales. This paucity likely results from the relative expense of measuring MXD and the lack of laboratories with the fac…
