This exploratory study investigated the experiences of a small group of people who had participated in professionally led bereavement support groups, with particular emphasis on perceptions of the appropriate timing for initial involvement with a group and the reasons for joining. The Long-Term Effects of Relocation on People with an Intellectual Disability
This article reports on the long-term effects of relocation on a sample of 45 people with an intellectual disability who moved from an institution to the community and to other institutions. Data were gathered for 3 years after relocation. Results revealed that a move to supported community residences and to refurbished units within other institutions was associated with increased quality of life/care and, for interinstitutional movers, decreased…

Life expectancy is increasing, but not everyone who reaches old age achieves happiness or ego-integrity (Erikson 1963). Drawing on correlates of life satisfaction previously identified by one of the present authors, a retirement preparation and enrichment program of six two-hour sessions was developed and presented to more than 100 volunteers. The Use of Notes in Examinations
S ummary . Two randomly selected groups of mature social work students were examined under conditions of access or non‐access to notes. The first condition was associated with less distress than the second. These conditions were not related to academic performance in a simple way, but there was a strong interactive effect between them and the results on particular examination papers
