We examined whether the “friendliness” of college counseling center websites to students with lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer, plus other identities (LGBTQ+) varied by state‐level structural policies on hate crime, employment nondiscrimination, and religious exemption. Black and White Self-Identified Latinx Respondents and Perceived Psychological Distress and Impairment
The influence of racial differences on perceived psychological distress and impairment was examined with a nationally representative sample of Black and White Latinxs. The study sample was selected from multiple years of the National Health Interview Survey and included 30,519 self-identified Black and White Latinxs between the ages of 26 and 64 years. This study sought to move beyond superficial appreciation of Nina Simone’s lyrics to identify and contextualize emergent constructs. A qualitative ethnographic content analysis of 44 songs was conducted in order to reach a deeper understanding of the messages in her lyrics. Studies have shown that familial rejection can lead to mental health concerns and lowered self-esteem in gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender (GLBT) individuals (Gonsiorek & Rudolph, 1991; Szymanski & Gupta, 2009). This paper describes the Rhode Island Tobacco Control Enhancement Project (TCEP), a state‐university‐community technical assistance system.
