The Danube riverbed near the Roman Fort in Iža-Leányvár
This paper presents the results of investigations carried out in the Danube riverbed between Brigetio and the northern shore at today’s Iža‐Leányvár. It begins with a concise overview of previous research—undertaken mainly on the north bank—which prompted the Slovak team to examine the river itself and ultimately led to the discovery of the piers of a Roman bridge. First reported archaeological case of leprosy in Slovakia
In 2009 and 2010, a rescue excavation at Nitra‐Selenec II (Slovakia) was carried out by the Institute of Archaeology of the Slovak Academy of Sciences. A medieval cemetery dated to the end of 11th century was discovered, yielding 72 individuals, including the skeleton of young female manifesting skeletal changes consistent with leprosy. Al‐Khidr site on Failaka Island in the Bronze Age
The objective of this article is to evaluate the results of the excavation at the site of Al‐Khidr on Failaka Island that was probably a port or a fishermen’s settlement in the past. A very large number of stone architectural remains and artifacts have been discovered there. Al‐Khidr is a typical Dilmun culture site and the settlement was probably contemporary with the known sites F3 and F6 located on the south‐west coast of the island. Based on …
