Africa’s rapid urbanisation is overwhelming formal waste management systems, necessitating reliance on informal systems to manage growing volumes of municipal solid waste. Informal irrigated vegetable value chains in urban Ghana
Contaminated vegetables grown and consumed in cities of the global South have adverse public health consequences. Through interviews with farmers, traders, consumers and institutional representatives, this article explores why stakeholders in the irrigated vegetable value chain in Accra continue unsafe practices. Purpose: This systematic narrative review examines relational approaches to working with interpersonal violence (IPV) within established heterosexual couple relationships at secondary and tertiary prevention levels. In this article, we centre the voices and experiences of children engaged over several years in Indigenous tourism initiatives on Dharug Country (Dharug Ngurra) in Western Sydney, Australia. As Dharug and non-Indigenous researchers within the Dharug-led Yanama Budyari Gumada collective (Darug Ngurra et al, 2019, 2020a, 202b, 2021), we dialogue with our gurung, our children, who walked so patiently and with such great curiosity alongside us as we …
Access to and factors influencing drinking water and sanitation service levels in informal settlements
Inequalities in access to safely managed water and sanitation services remain one of the barriers to making urban informal settlements more inclusive and safe areas to live. The 2030 Sustainable Development Goals’ (SDG) agenda provides a new perspective for global monitoring of water and sanitation progress by the United Nations. The novel virus known as COVID-19 emerged in late 2019 and became a global pandemic in early 2020. The supposed origin of the virus in a ‘wet market’ in Wuhan, China led to the deployment of anti-Chinese discourse in the Trump administration’s treatment of the virus. Body Worlds' plastinates, the human/nonhuman interface, and feminism
Body Worlds is a hugely popular exhibition that claims to offer a reverential and educational experience of the 'real human body' through the display of plastinated dead human bodies. However, because they are posed, staged, and composed of significant nonhuman artifice, plastinates are ambivalently 'real' as human bodies, let alone 'real' as humans. Plastinates are as much nonhuman as human, and neither category fully accounts for them. In this …

Excavations continued in Areas P, Q and R, accompanied by limited augering work to determine the limits of surviving archaeology to the south of the Sidi Abeid mound. Excavations in Area P revealed part of a courtyard house from the penultimate phase of the site, with a probable andron and gunaikon . Its destruction is dated to after 261 BC. In Area Q wo…
