Gender differences in the associations between body mass index, depression, anxiety, and stress among endocrinologists in China
One-fourth of endocrinologists in China are overweight, with a rate in males nearly triple the one in females. Depression and anxiety are significantly associated with overweight in males but not females. This suggests possible differences in the mechanism. Our findings also highlight the need to screen depression and overweight in male physicians and the importance of developing gender-specific interventions
Executive function deficits and medial temporal lobe atrophy in late-life depression and Alzheimer’s disease
AD patients experience more severe EFD and MTA than LLD patients. The differential diagnosis of AD and LLD can be aided by the useful tool known as TMT. It is important to acknowledge that TMT is capable of capturing only a fraction of the executive function, thus necessitating a cautious interpretation of research findings
Non-suicidal self-injury in adolescents with mood disorders and the roles of self-compassion and emotional regulation
NSSI is prevalent among adolescent patients with mood disorders in clinical settings, especially among girls and those with lower levels of education and less cognitive reappraisal strategies. More clinical attention is needed. Self-compassion and its factors may mediate the association between emotional regulation and NSSI. The cognitive effects of adjunctive repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation for late-onset depression
Treatment with 120% MT rTMS was associated with improvement in cognitive defects related to the active phase of LOD. These findings suggest that rTMS could provide early improvements in cognitive function in clinical settings for elderly patients with LOD. Workplace Violence and Turnover Intention Among Psychiatrists in a National Sample in China
Experience of WPV is a significant contributor to turnover intention among psychiatrists. Mental health status, such as burnout and stress level significantly mediated the association. Policy makers and hospital administrators need to be aware of this association. Action is needed to promote mental health among the psychiatrists to improve morale and workforce sustainability
