British Public Opinion after a Decade of War
Using data from the 2011 British Social Attitudes survey (n = 3,311), this article compares British public opinion of the purposes and successes of the Iraq and Afghanistan missions. Public acceptance of military deaths/injuries, the accuracy of public estimates of military fatalities and how these differ according to opinions of the missions are determined. It is found that the British public is doubtful of the missions' achievements and cynical…

Premature Termination of Psychiatric Contact
Failure to complete psychiatric treatment is an extensive and wasteful problem. This retrospective casenote study of 252 patients, suffering from a neurotic disorder, investigated which clinical and sociodemographic factors were associated with premature termination of psychiatric treatment. Of 336 newly referred cases of neurosis 170 (51 %) were offered psychotherapy. The factors associated with being offered this treatment were: a diagnosis of anxiety neurosis or phobic neurosis, not having had a history of deliberate self harm, living not more than 20 miles from the hospital, being less than 51 years of age, and being either married or single.
