  • The learning analytics of computational scientific modeling with self-explanation for subgoals and demonstration scaffolding

    Open Access•Cai-Ting Wen, Cai‐Ting Wen et al.•ARTICLE•Computers & Education•2024

  • A review of using multilevel modeling in e-learning research

    Open Access•Hung‐Ming Lin, Jiun-Yu Wu et al.•ARTICLE•Computers & Education•2023

Improving e-learning involves various levels of supports. Accordingly, researchers usually adopt complex research designs with a multilevel structure or repeated measurements to capture a heuristic view of learners’ perceptions, comprehension, and behavior in e-learning settings. A total of 76 studies with Hierarchical Linear Modeling (HLM) as a multilevel modeling technique in 13 major e-learning journals from January 2000 to September 2022, pub…

  • An analysis of children’ interaction with an AI chatbot and its impact on their interest in reading

    Open Access•Chen‐Chung Liu, Chen-Chung Liu et al.•ARTICLE•Computers & Education•2022

  • The impact of functional interdependencies of computer simulations on collaborative learning

Open Access•Chen‐Chung Liu, Tsun‐Wei Lin et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Computer Assisted…•2022

  • Influence of Chopstick Size on Taste Evaluations

    Open Access•Hung-Ming Lin, Hung‐Ming Lin et al.•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•2015

This study explored the influence of the length of chopsticks on taste evaluations. Participants (N=78; M age=21.1 yr., SD=3.8) reported a greater liking for their food and higher purchase intentions when using long rather than short chopsticks. Findings also indicated that the long (vs short) chopsticks caused people to slow down when eating, resulting in greater eating duration and a higher number of mouthfuls. The findings of this study provid…

  • The development of the Conceptions of Learning Management inventory

    Hung-Ming Lin, Hung‐Ming Lin et al.•ARTICLE•Studies in Higher Education•2013•Referencias: 30

The purpose of this study was to develop a questionnaire (called the Conceptions of Learning Management [COLM] inventory) to assess students' six categories of learning management (i.e. the learning of management), including learning management as ‘memorizing,’ ‘testing,’ ‘applying,’ ‘gaining higher status,’ ‘understanding’ and ‘seeing in a new way.’ Testing the scales with 428 students confirmed a six-factor structure through confirmatory factor…

  • Social Value Orientation and Information Level in Selling Prices

Open Access•Chien-Huang Lin, Hung-Ming Lin et al.•ARTICLE•Social Behavior and Personality…•2008

The concept of social value orientation was used to investigate whether or not individual difference would influence selling price decisions in situations with different information levels. Results of the study indicated that individuals with different orientations reacted differently to selling price under the condition of different information levels. In general, proselfs charged higher prices under the condition of asymmetric information than …

  • Effect of Perceived Benefits on Reluctance to Trade

    Open Access•Hung-Ming Lin, Hung‐Ming Lin et al.•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•2007

People often tend to be reluctant to trade an owned object for an alternative object. This concept of reluctance to trade is generally called "endowment effect". Loss aversion, which denotes that losses are weighted more heavily than gains, has been applied to interpret the endowment effect. Specifically, no "reluctance to trade" will occur when no loss is involved. In this research, 172 (90 women, 82 men; M age=21 yr., SD= 1.2) and 152 (82 women…

  • What Price Do You Ask for the “Extra One”

Open Access•Chien-Huang Lin, Chien‐Huang Lin et al.•ARTICLE•Social Behavior and Personality…•2006

The concept of social value orientation was used to explore individuals' decisions in asking price when they had an “extra one” that someone wanted to buy. Results from an experimental study indicated that competitors' asking price was higher than those of individualists, who in turn asked higher prices than did prosocials. Regardless of the social value orientation, participants charged a significantly lower price for the “extra one” if the buye…
