  • Extreme rainfall and anaemia among children under five in 46 low- and middle-income countries

Open Access•Zhouxin Yin, Shihan Zhen et al.•ARTICLE•BMJ Global Health•2026

BACKGROUND: Childhood anaemia remains a major public health challenge in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). While extreme rainfall has been linked to child growth, its impact on childhood anaemia has not been well characterised. METHODS: Our study used data from the Demographic and Health Survey programme conducted between 2000-2022 across 46 LMICs, comprising 373 901 children aged 6-59 months. Generalised linear models estimated ORs for c…

  • BSHXF-medicated serum combined with ADSCs regulates the TGF-β1/Smad pathway to repair oxidatively damaged NPCs and its component analysis

Open Access•Jiahao Duan, Zhaoyong Li et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Ethnopharmacology•2023

By regulating the TGF-β1/Smad pathway, BSHXF-medicated serum promoted ADSCs to NPCs, effectively alleviated the cycle blockage of NPCs after oxidative damage, encouraged the growth and proliferation of NPCs, delayed the aging of NPCs, improved the deteriorating microenvironment around NPCs, and repaired oxidatively damaged NPCs. The combination of BSHXF or its compounds with ADSCs has great potential for the treatment of IDD in the future

  • The effects of Jiawei Duhuo Jisheng mixture on Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway in the synovium inflamed by knee osteoarthritis

Open Access•Qiyun Shi, Lu Huang et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Ethnopharmacology•2022

JDJM can regulate the synovial Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway in KOA models, reduce the mRNA transcription and protein expression levels of Wnt3a, β-catenin, Cyclin D1, MMP-7, and COX-2 in the synovium, thus inhibiting synovial inflammation and protecting articular cartilage, which could be the key mechanism of action in treating this disease

  • Serum Levels of FGF21, β-Klotho, and BDNF in Stable Coronary Artery Disease Patients With Depressive Symptoms

Open Access•Yeshun Wu, Zijun Chen et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2021

Background: The incidence of depressive symptoms (DS) in patients with stable coronary artery disease (SCAD) is significantly higher than those in healthy population, and that DS are independent risk factors for cardiovascular events. Previous studies have reported that fibroblast growth factor 21 (FGF21), β-klotho, mature brain-derived neurotrophic factor (mBDNF), and BDNF precursor (proBDNF) play important roles in the pathogenesis and treatmen…
