  • Antimalarial activity of hydroalcoholic extract and fractions from Gnidia stenophylla roots

Open Access•Samson Sahile Salile, Alfoalem Araba Abiye et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Ethnopharmacology•2025

Gnidia stenophylla root contains bioactive compounds with antimalarial efficacy. The aqueous fraction, in particular, showed strong activity both in vitro and in vivo, supporting the traditional use of this plant for malaria. These findings justify further isolation of the active constituents and development of standardized extracts

  • The progress of mother-to-child transmission of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) after Dolutegravir (DTG) optimization program

Open Access•Abel Gedefaw, Birkneh Tilahun Tadesse et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2024

In the studied cohort population, we observed less than 3% MTCT rate at the end of PMTCT care. The findings might suggest the achievement of MTCT elimination at the hospital level. Although the DTG-based regimen demonstrated a lower risk of transmission, other contributing factors, such as late ART initiation, should be urgently addressed. Future research should focus on prospective designs, interventions targeting late ART initiation, and unders…

  • Comparative Assessment of the Pharmacovigilance Systems within the Neglected Tropical Diseases Programs in East Africa—Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, and Tanzania

Open Access•Abbie Barry, Sten Olsson et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2021

Monitoring the safety of medicines used in public health programs (PHPs), including the neglected tropical diseases (NTD) program, is a WHO recommendation, and requires a well-established and robust pharmacovigilance system. The objective of this study was to assess the pharmacovigilance systems within the NTD programs in Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, and Tanzania. The East African Community Harmonized Pharmacovigilance Indicators tool for PHPs was us…

  • Systematic review of Ethiopian medicinal plants used for their anti-inflammatory and wound healing activities

Open Access•Dereje Nigussie, Eyasu Makonnen et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Ethnopharmacology•2021

  • In vivo anti-inflammatory activities of Ocimum suave in mice

Open Access•Birhanetensay Masresha, Eyasu Makonnen et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Ethnopharmacology•2012

  • Evaluation of in vivo wound healing activity of methanol extract of Achyranthes aspera L

Open Access•Abraham Fikru, Eyasu Makonnen et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Ethnopharmacology•2012

  • In vivo anti-inflammatory activities of leaf extracts of Ocimum lamiifolium in mice model

Open Access•Woldesellassie Mequanint Woldesellassie Mequanint, Woldesellassie Mequanint et…•ARTICLE•Journal of Ethnopharmacology•2011

  • In vitro and in vivo anthelmintic activity of crude extracts of Coriandrum sativum against Haemonchus contortus

Open Access•Tadesse Eguale, Getachew Tilahun et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Ethnopharmacology•2007

  • Effect of Catha edulis foresk (khat) extracts on male rat sexual behavior

Open Access•Mohammedbirhan Abdulwaheb, Eyasu Makonnen et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Ethnopharmacology•2007

  • In vivo and in vitro Anti-fertility and Anti-implantation Properties of leonotis ocymifolia in Rats

Open Access•Geremaw Tafesse, Yalemtsehay Mekonnen et al.•ARTICLE•African Journal of Traditional…•2005

The anti-fertility effect of the aqueous and ethanol extracts of the leaves and roots of Leonotis ocymifolia were studied both in vivo and in vitro. The anti-implantation and anti-fertility activities of the ethanol leaves extract were 37% and 20%, respectively. The body weight recorded for 19 days starting from day 1 of pregnancy showed that all rats of the control groups showed considerable weight gains over the period of 19 days. The weight ga…

  • Phytochemical screening and pharmacological evaluations for the antifertility effect of the methanolic root extract of Rumex steudelii

Open Access•Endalk Gebrie, Eyasu Makonnen et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Ethnopharmacology•2005
