Insular Southeast Asia at the Interface of Continent-Archipelago
Exploring the diversity of fossil hominin dental patterns in the western Indonesian archipelago during the Quaternary by Geometric Morphometric Analysis. Application on second upper and lower molars

Insular Southeast Asia in the Lower Paleolithic
External dental characters and diversity of Homo erectus among the fossil record of Java
Hominin variability in Java Island should be impacted by the dynamics of Pleistocene climatic and related biogeographical patterns changes. The aim of this study is to characterize the diversity of Javan hominins by exploring the external dental morphological features. We applied metric measurements and observations of the external characters using the scoring method on a sample of 75 upper and lower second molars (M2) from Sangiran and Wajak sit…

Pleistocene migrations in the Southeast Asian archipelagos
This chapter describes further the migrations of early hominins within Southeast Asia, especially to the sometime‐island and sometime‐peninsula formed by Java. The island of Flores was also reached at least one million years ago by crossing ocean passages between islands. Early modern human migrations beyond the Sunda Shelf are also discussed
Paleomagnetic Data Bearing on the Age of High Terrace Deposits (Durance Sequence) in Alpine Valleys of Southeastern France
In the Durance valley, high terrace levels are stepped below the young. Villafranchian surface and separated from the middle and low terraces by a step 80 m high. A paleomagnetic study was made of a key bed of freshwater silt on the high terrace, that contains archaic faunal and floral elements. The section contains two sedimentary cycles with opposite polarities, which are therefore placed on either side of the Brunhes-Matuyama boundary. By comp…

Paleomagnetic Correlation of the Mediterranean Upper Neogene Biochronology and Villafranchian Vertebrate Sites of the Massif Central, France
Magnetostratigraphic studies of Pliocene-Pleistocene continental deposits on the Plateau de Perrier and in the Le Puy-en-Velay basin (Massif Central), as well as in the Riez-Valensole basin (Alpes de Haute Provence, Mediterranean South), provide decisive reference dating of several well-known fossil-bearing Villafranchian sites. These are well distributed in the tephrostratigraphy on both sides of the Gauss/Matuyama geomagnetic boundary: the Roca…
