    This chapter examines the activities of the University of Oxford Round Table in relation to the British Empire. It explains that the university's Pageant Victory of 1919 took the unity of the Empire as its theme partly as a result of the work of the Round Table whose roots were in Oxford and whose history began in South Africa. It describes specific missions in whose founding and subsequent work Oxford felt a special responsibility towards including missions in Calcutta, India, and Central Africa.
