Eugene Albert Nida D. Terence Langendoen Eugene Albert Nida, 44th president of the Linguistic Society of America, died on August 25, 2011, at the age of ninety-six in Madrid, Spain. Nida was born in Oklahoma City on November 11, 1914, and his family moved to Long Beach, California, when he was five years old.
