    Many of the patients referred to NHS groups are involved in abusive relationships. This article seeks to examine the nature of such relationships through the literature of psychoanalysis and psycho-therapy and to put forward the proposal that heterogeneous groups provide a good opportunity to look at making changes in such relationships
