  • Radiocarbon Dating of a Late Antique Necropolis From Felanitx (Mallorca, Balearic Islands)

    Open Access•Catalina Mas Florit, M Á Cau Ontiveros et al.•ARTICLE•Radiocarbon•2021•Referencias: 13

The excavation of a building in the village of Felanitx in the eastern part of the island of Mallorca (Balearic Islands) has revealed the existence of a small necropolis. The inhumations did not provide grave goods except for a bronze belt buckle for which the typological study suggests a Late Antique chronology. The stratigraphical sequence however seems to suggest a possible evolution of the space across time since some graves are cut by others…

  • C Chronology of Burial Grounds of the Andronovo Period (Middle Bronze Age) in Baraba Forest Steppe, Western Siberia

    Open Access•V I Molodin, Z V Marchenko et al.•ARTICLE•Radiocarbon•2012•Citada por: 7•Referencias: 12

This paper focuses on the chronology of Middle Bronze Age complexes in the Baraba forest steppe (western Siberia). Three sites were radiocarbon dated, Stary Tartas 4, Sopka 2, and Tartas 1. The Late Krotovo culture was dated to the 18–19th centuries BC, the Andronovo complex (Fedorovo stage) to the 15–18th centuries BC, and the Mixed Andronovo complex dated to the 15–17th centuries BC. These values are some 300–500 yr older than previously though…

  • Is Comparability of 14 C Dates an Issue

    Open Access•C Bryant, I Carmi et al.•ARTICLE•Radiocarbon•2001•Citada por: 4•Referencias: 3

For more than 15 years, the radiocarbon community has participated in a series of laboratory intercomparisons in response to the issue of comparability of measurements as perceived within the wider user communities (Scott et al. 1990; Rozanski et al. 1992; Gulliksen and Scott 1995; Scott et al. 1997). In this report, we provide an update on the current 14 C laboratory intercomparison and reflect on future issues linked to the laboratory intercomp…

The AMS program at the S. Paulo 9MV Tandem accelerator has been initiated with major emphasis on projects based on the determination of 10Be, 26Al and 36C1 concentrations

  • Antwerp University Radiocarbon Dates III

    Open Access•R Vanhoorne, M Van Strydonck et al.•ARTICLE•Radiocarbon•1978•Citada por: 3•Referencias: 5

The following list contains most of the measurements made during 1977, since our last list (R, 1977, v 19, p 383-388). The laboratory procedures used were those outlined in the previous date lists (R, 1976, v 18, p 151-160; R, 1977, op cit ). Dates are calculated using 14 C half-life of 5568 yr and errors are reported as one-standard deviation. The collagen extraction follows Longin (1970)

The following list contains most of the measurements made during 1976, since our last list (R, 1976, v 18, p 151-160). Wood and charcoal samples were prepared as previously described (R, 1976, v 18, p 151). Peat samples were treated with cold N/10 NaOH and hot N/10 HCl, washed and dried
