William G Graziano, Stephen M Smith et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Personality and Social…•1996•Citada por: 1

Four multimethod studies probed the hypothesis, derived from the Zajonc-Markus motor theory of emotion, that facial recognition is enhanced by imitation of the faces. In all studies, participants were (a) randomly assigned to imitate or to concentrate on a set of faces presented on slides; (b) covertly videotaped, or measured for facial electromyographic responses, to assess facial motor responsiveness; (c) asked to recognize faces previously see…

  • The Quality of Friendships at Work and Job Satisfaction

    Open Access•Barbara A Winstead, Valerian J Derlega et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Social and Personal…•1995•Citada por: 12•Referencias: 16

The study examines the relationship between quality of a friendship at work and job satisfaction. Faculty and staff (N = 722) at two universities completed measures of the qualities of their best friendship at work and of job satisfaction. Multiple regressions for faculty and staff and for subjects whose best friend was a peer, supervisor or subordinate revealed that the quality of one's best friendship in the workplace is predictive of job satis…

  • Social perception

    Open Access•John W Achee, John Achee et al.•ARTICLE•European Journal of Social…•1994•Citada por: 2•Referencias: 11

Social prediction was used to examine the causal role of physiological arousal in self‐ evaluation maintenance (SEM) processes. Subjects' level of arousal was manipulated by having half of the subjects engage in physical exercise and half of the subjects relax prior to receiving performance feedback on high and low relevance tasks. On each task, subjects were given an opportunity to predict the performance of a friend or a stranger. The SEM model…
