  • Mapping genomic loci implicates genes and synaptic biology in schizophrenia

Open Access•Vassily Trubetskoy, Antonio F Pardiñas et al.•ARTICLE•Nature•2022

  • The Predictive Properties of Violence Risk Instruments May Increase by Adding Items Assessing Sleep

Open Access•Knut Langsrud, Arne Vaaler et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2019

Background: The psychometric instruments developed for short-term prediction of violence in psychiatric inpatients do not include variables assessing sleep. Disturbances in sleep may precede aggression in this setting. We investigated whether adding information on sleep improved the predictive properties of the Brøset Violence Checklist (BVC). Methods: The study population consists of all patients admitted to a psychiatric intensive care unit (PI…

  • Subtle Phenotype Differences in Psychiatric Patients With and Without Serum Immunoglobulin G Antibodies to Synapsin

Open Access•Sverre Georg Sæther, Arne Vaaler et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2019

The discovery that antibodies targeting neuronal antigens can induce severe psychiatric symptoms has been a significant progress in the understanding of psychiatric disorders. Antibodies targeting synapsin I in serum and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) were first reported in 2015 in a patient with limbic encephalitis. Because of its regulatory function for neurotransmitter release, synapsin I has been suggested to play a role in psychiatric disorders. …
