    People assume that those who hold sexist beliefs hold racist beliefs, and vice versa. However, past work only investigated hostile sexism, or blatantly negative evaluations of women.     Two studies tested the impact of subtle cues that associate masculinity with science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) success on women’s STEM experiences. Study 1 was a field study conducted in a university campus engineering building where photos of graduating classes were displayed.     Transactive memory is a system for encoding, storing, and retrieving information between people, where each person has knowledge of the other's memory. Through two studies, we assessed whether transactive memory occurs in best friendships ( N = 682). Results showed that transactive memory systems (TMSs) do exist in best friendships.
