From BMI to TMI
Background Traditional reliance on body mass index (BMI) to assess adiposity may misclassify physically active individuals with high lean mass. The triponderal mass index (TMI) has emerged as a potentially more accurate alternative, but evidence in physically active populations is limited. Purpose To examine the associations of TMI and BMI with bioimpedance-derived adiposity and selected hematological markers in physically active young adults. Me…
Impact of an 8-week high-intensity bodyweight interval training on body composition and blood lipid metabolism in young women with overweight
Background A physically inactive lifestyle is associated with an increased risk of obesity, dyslipidemia and metabolic disorders, especially in women. While high-intensity training methods have been extensively studied in male populations, the physiological and metabolic effects of high-intensity interval resistance training (HIIRT) in overweight women are understudied. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of an 8-week HIIRT progr…
Mental and physical outcomes of yoga participation in women with spinal disorders
Yoga, a holistic practice supporting both physical and mental integrity, has gained increasing attention in recent years as a public health–promoting activity. Particularly among women with spinal disorders (e.g., hernia, lordosis, scoliosis, kyphosis), yoga is recognized not only for improving physical functionality but also for contributing significantly to psychosocial parameters such as stress management, self-awareness, and life satisfaction…
Impact of Exercise on Psychological Well-Being in Patients with Pediatric Cancer
Objective: This study was conducted to investigate the effects of exercise on psychological disorders in patients receiving childhood cancer treatment. Methods: The study group consisted of patients with cancer between the ages of 9 and 17 who were treated in the Hematology-Oncology units of Erciyes University. For the sample group, children with cancer were informed about the content of the study, and 40 children with cancer agreed to participat…
Investigation of the playing digital games on shoulder flexibility, muscle strength and reaction speed in volleyball players
Esports is a natural extension of digital games. Digital games provide a platform for players to showcase their skills, thereby forming the foundation of e-sports. These two domains continuously support each other, demonstrating significant growth in popularity and establishing a solid presence in the competitive landscape. Digital games require high levels of attention, strategy, reflexes, and coordination, offering pathways to reach the pinnacl…
Association of Physiological Performance, Physical Fitness, and Academic Achievement in Secondary School Students
This study aimed to compare the physiological performance and physical fitness based on the academic achievement levels of secondary school students and to explore the effect of gender on the relationship between physiological performance, physical fitness, and academic achievement. In this cross-sectional study, 304 children aged 13-14 years were recruited. To assess physical fitness, students performed a 20 m sprint test, a pro-agility test, a …
Associations between Force-Time Related Single-Leg Counter Movement Jump Variables, Agility, and Linear Sprint in Competitive Youth Male Basketball Players
The study findings suggest that youth basketball players with greater single-leg jump output most likely have better sprint and agility performances. Thus, trainers and athletic performance coaches may include unilateral limb exercises in their training programs to enhance lower-limb explosive performance and reduce limb asymmetries
