  • Can Credit Rating Changes Affect Corporate Carbon Emissions? Some Evidence From the S&P 500

Open Access•Michał Wojewódzki, Mohamad Hassan Shahrour et al.•ARTICLE•Business Strategy and the…•2026

Using panel data on US S&P 500 firms from 2012 to 2024, this study examines how credit rating changes affect corporate carbon performance. Drawing on the resource‐based view and prospect theory, we show that credit rating downgrades lead to a statistically and economically significant deterioration in emission reduction scores. Notably, a downgrade is followed by an average decline of about 1.8 points in the emissions score. In contrast, no signi…

  • Effects of information and communication technology on total-factor carbon emission efficiency and the health co-benefits

Open Access•Jingying Linghu, Michał Wojewódzki et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2024

Information and communication technology (ICT) has great potential to propel economic development toward a low-carbon direction. This study aims to investigate the effect of ICT development on total-factor carbon emission efficiency (TFCEE), as well as its public health co-benefits. We use dynamic (threshold) models and a panel of 30 Chinese provinces from 2008 to 2019. The results suggest that ICT significantly and positively impacts the TFCEE. …

  • Association of Hyperuricemia with Impaired Left Ventricular Systolic Function in Patients with Atrial Fibrillation and Preserved Kidney Function

    Open Access•Marcin Wełnicki, Iwona Gorczyca−Michta et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2022

Hyperuricemia is associated with the risk of developing atrial fibrillation (AF) and heart failure. However, coexisting chronic kidney disease and certain cardiovascular drugs make it difficult to determine whether hyperuricemia is a risk factor or merely a marker of pathology. We retrieved data from the Polish Atrial Fibrillation (POL-AF) registry, which included consecutive patients hospitalized with AF from January to December, 2019. We includ…

  • Do Patients with Atrial Fibrillation and a History of Ischemic Stroke Overuse Reduced Doses of Noacs?—Results of the Polish Atrial Fibrillation (POL-AF) Registry

Open Access•Anna Szyszkowska, Łukasz Kuźma et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2022

A significant proportion of AF patients received reduced doses of NOAC after ischemic stroke in a sizeable number of cases, without indication for dose reduction

  • The Impacts of Globalization on Inequality in the Post-Covid-19 World

Open Access•Tsun Se Cheong, Yanrui Wu et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2021

Empirical studies suggest that globalization (FDI and international trade) has been greatly affected by the COVID-19 and related anti-pandemic measures imposed by governments worldwide. This paper investigates the impact of globalization on intra-provincial income inequality in China and the data is based on the county level. The findings reveal that FDI is negatively associated with intra-provincial inequality, intra-provincial inequality increa…
