Diversidad clonal de Pseudomonas aeruginosa productoras de carbapenemasas aisladas de muestras clínicas en un hospital de tercer nivel de Perú
Pseudomonas aeruginosa is an opportunistic pathogen associated with health care infections, it has high levels of antimicrobial resistance and is associated with hospital outbreaks. Early outbreak detection is a usual problem in hospitals, therefore, this study aimed to assess the clonal relationship of carbapenemase-producing P. aeruginosa in a tertiary hospital in Lima, Peru. Twenty-four metallo β-lactamase-producing P. aeruginosa strains isola…
Resistance to cephalosporins and quinolones by Escherichia coli isolated from irrigation water from eastern Lima, Perú
Motivation for the study. Aquatic systems, including irrigation water, have been identified as reservoirs of antimicrobial resistance, with few studies in Peru on the presence of Escherichia coli and their levels of virulence and antimicrobial resistance. Main findings. Our results show the presence of E. coli above the established standard for vegetable irrigation water, some with very high levels of antimicrobial resistance. Implications. The p…
Caracterización de metalo-β-lactamasas en aislados clínicos de Pseudomonas aeruginosa recuperados de pacientes hospitalizados en el Hospital Militar Central
hat codify metallo-β-lactamases (MBL) in clinical isolates of Pseudomona aeruginosa (P. aeruginosa), a cross-sectional study was conducted in the Central Military Hospital (HMC) of Lima, Peru, between January and September, 2016. Seventy-six (76) isolates of P. aeruginosa with diminished sensitivity to carbapenemes and resistant to ceftazidime were analyzed. The phenotype detection of MBL was made by double disc synergy between imipenem and merop…
